The old town of Bansko is a World Heritage Site, which easily charms visitors with its narrow cobbled streets and stone buildings. The first settlers arrived in Bansko around the 9-10th centuries AD, however it was not until the 18th century that the small mountain town became prosperous and developed as a trading town. Bansko enjoys its place in history, having been home to some of the most renowned figures in the Bulgarian National Revival period, Neofit Rilski and Paisii Hilendarski. Nowadays you can enjoy the sights of the old town square, the St. Trinity Church amongst others.
